Monterrico

Monterrico, famous for it black sand beaches, is a small village with a very laidback atmosphere at located inside the Monterrico Nature Reserve. The reserve was founded for the purpose of protecting sea turtles and the mangrove swamps. The turtles come ashore from June to February to lay their eggs in the sand on the beach.

The majority of hotels only offer basic facilities, only a few uphold higher standards of service.
